DescriptionCreationism, as defined in Webster's New Universal Dictionary, is the doctrine that matter and all things were created, substantially as they now exist, by an omnipotent creator, and not gradually evolved or developed. As such it is not only a religious view and an (unorthodox) scientific doctrine, but a philosophical position about the origin of the world and life.
