DescriptionSalinity Gradient Solar Ponds have a layer of saltier water near the bottom to reduce convection and cooling to the atmosphere. This lets them reach higher temperatures, and store more heat for other uses. (Flat) land, water, and salt are needed to build one of these structures combining efficient solar energy collection and storage.
